Hello! I have absolutely loved being a ambassador over this past year. I love sharing our family’s favorite recipes. Our family’s “cantry” is stocked with can foods, & they are a staple in our family’s diet. Canned foods are nutritious, healthy, convenient & inexpensive. One of my family’s favorite recipes using canned goods is Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup. One of my girls ask for this soup every single week! I think she could eat it just about everyday. ha! I love it because it is easy to put together, is full of veggies & has lots of delicious flavor. So keep reading to get the recipe. :)

Canned foods can be a hallmark of a healthy diet. Canned produce is on par nutritionally with fresh & frozen varieties, & in some cases even better. Studies conducted by researchers at Michigan State University, UC Davis and Oregon State University all concluded that canned foods have similar (or better) nutritional profiles as their fresh or frozen counterparts. People who frequently eat canned foods may have healthier diets than people who don't. An analysis of NPD data shows that adults and children who ate 6+ canned food items over two weeks were more likely to meet or exceed their recommended daily allowance for 17 essential nutrients than those who ate 1-2 canned food items over the same two-week period. Canned foods play a big role in helping registered dietitians help their clients (& themselves) eat healthy, balanced diets. According to a recent survey, registered dietitians rate canned foods as important in helping both themselves (81%) and their clients (89%) to prepare nutritious, convenient & affordable home cooked meals. Canned food is a wonderful addition your family’s diet. Now let’s get on with that recipe!
