Ginger Snap Crafts: Patriotic Banner {tutorial} #makeitfuncrafts

Patriotic Banner {tutorial} #makeitfuncrafts

This post is brought to you by FloraCraft® Make It: Fun®.

Hello! It’s that time again. It’s time for another fun Make It: Fun® challenge. Eek! I’m not going to lie this month’s challenge was a little tricky for me. I was kind of surprised when I opened the box, & it was full of FloraCraft® Make It: Fun® Foam Cones. You know the cones that you can make beautiful Christmas trees or fun candy corn out of. I thought about & thought about what to do. I knew I would have to think outside the cone shaped box! ha! I ended up slicing up my foam cones & making this adorable Patriotic Banner! It’s the perfect touch of color & texture for my 4th of July home décor. So keep reading to see how I did it! :)

Supplies:
FloraCraft® Make It: Fun® Foam Cones
FloraCraft® Make It: Fun® Foam Cutter
Design it:® Simple Style® Printed Muslin
burlap flowers
fabric rosettes
patriotic ribbon
burlap
twine
hot glue & glue gun
scissors

foam cones

First, you’ll need your foam cone & foam cutter. I used two of the 3 7/8 inch X 11 7/8 inch cones.

Using the foam cutter I sliced my cones into 6 or so foam circles.

Next, I cut circles out of burlap, & then I hot glued one to the back of each foam circle.

Next, I hot glued some patriotic ribbon around the edges.

I found these burlap flowers at the craft store. They were perfect for this project!

I flipped my foam circle over (burlap side down), & then I hot glued a burlap flower on top.

A tiny fabric rosette in the middle was the perfect addition!

I hot glued a piece of twine between the burlap flower & foam to link all the pieces together.

I thought my banner needed a little something more! ha! This Design it:® Simple Style® Printed Muslin is just what it needed!

I cut the fabric into about 7 inch long strips.

Then I tied the fabric pieces onto the twine in-between each burlap flower.

Then I hung it up! It’s the perfect addition to my patriotic décor! The foam gives it just the right amount of depth. I love all the different textures & colors.
