Some of you might remember when
I was super excited to get my new Silhouette Cameo.
I had so many projects & ideas! Like this & this. I couldn’t wait to get started! :)
Well, unknown to me my 2 year old, Cole, had BIG plans for my Cameo, too! Ummm…not good!
Just a little background on my little Cole-Man. He is extremely busy! Always into something.
Like the time he put Vaseline in his hair…yep, his hair was sticking up like that for a couple of days until the Vaseline finally wore off. Then there was the time he put lotion all over his forehead, and the many, many times he has colored himself with markers. Do you see a pattern???
Yes, usually he is doing crazy things to himself…buuuuuut that would soon change. Yikes!
So this is what happened over at our house a few weeks ago.
If you open up the front of the Cameo you will notice a piece of white tape.
I’m not sure but I think it is some sort of electronic tape that tells the Cameo how & what to cut.
Well, Cole grabbed a pair of my craft scissors & cut the tape in two pieces! Aaarghhh!
(I’m very thankful that the Cameo was put up & not plugged in….it could have been worse!)

Ummmmm….yes, I was freaking out A LOT (& maybe even crying a lot little).
(My hubby thought I was a little crazy!)
The only thing I could think to do was contact Silhouette & ask them if they sold that part.
I emailed them & within a couple of minutes they had already emailed me back
& said that it wasn’t a replaceable part, and they said even though it wasn’t a warranty issue that they understood my situation. All I would have to do is send my damaged Cameo back to them, & then they would send me a replacement & cover it under my warranty!!! Oh.my.goodness. talk about customer service!!! Wahoo!!
Amazing! Now I was crying happy tears! Yay!
I knew I loved Silhouette before but seriously just for the customer service alone I would recommend them! Yay! Thank you so much Silhouette!!! You.are.awesome.
Within a couple of weeks my new Cameo was delivered to my door! Yay!
Annnnnd if you were wondering….my new Cameo has not been out of the box
(except for these pictures) since I got it….think I’ll keep it that way until Cole is 5 at least!
So do YOU have any good “terrible two” stories???
Disclosure: I was NOT compensated for this post. Silhouette does not endorse or sponsor my blog. (Don’t I wish!)
I really think Silhouette is great company, & I highly recommends their products & services.
OOps LOL ... hahah .... Dont you just love when they wanna get crafty like momma? SO glad they are replacing it! that is SUPER awesome customer service!!! woohoo!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I am so worried that we will have a similar situation at my house with one of my expensive toys. :) My girls are really good about not touching my things, but I am not so sure how my little Zac is going to be. I am so glad that you were able to get a new one though, what a relief! And I totally would have cried as well. :)
ReplyDeleteOh no. I would have freaked out too! I'm so glad that they replaced it for you. My three year old loves to cut up my vinyl all the time.
ReplyDeleteI keep my Cameo in the box still too. On occasion I will leave it out in my bedroom when I've been using it and it never fails that Ella somehow gets in there and starts opening and closing it and trying to take the blade out. She knows how to get Mommy movin' REAL fast! DON'T BREAK MOMMY'S TOY!!!!
ReplyDeleteI try and keep my expensive toys out of reach too, because even 7 yo girls try to use them and don't know how. The results? Disastrous.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, that is amazing that they will do that for you. I have three boys and they are the same way, nothing is sacred to them they just want to give it a try too. I am glad it all worked out for you
ReplyDeleteAre you freaking kidding?!?!!?
ReplyDeleteMy son is the tasmanian devil. Seriously, he creates tornados where ever he goes and destroys EVERYTHING.
I keep my silhouette up - but every time I get it out... he is RIGHT there.
WOW. A+++ for customer services. That is awesome to hear. Makes me love my cameo purchase even more!
Hi Ginger, I've been following your blog for a while now and everytime I see a project where you use your Cameo I get so jealous... sorry, I know it's not nice to be jealous :)
ReplyDeleteSo I can imagine your panic when your darling 2-year old decided to change your Cameo dramatically. WOW what great serive at Silhouette. I'm going to see if I can by one Cameo for myself and have it sent all the way to Iceland... then I must remember to keep it away from my Arna, 3-year old daughter :)
Have fun again with your new Cameo, I can't wait to see what you'll come up with next!!

Oh my...I have never accepted the term "Terrible Twos", I like to call it the "Inquisitive Twos". Cole is pushing to find out where his limit is. Let him know and keep the Cameo locked up tight!

PS IF they don't want the Cameo back, let Cole explore! Maybe when you get the new one out it will be old hat by then!
That true...2 year olds are also cute, loveable & adorable! The good parts outweigh the crazy stuff for sure. I love my little man. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome of them to replace it!!!! wow! I would have cried too, but I guess boys will be boys... :P
ReplyDeleteVery cool of them to replace it for you!
ReplyDeleteI totally remember you posting about it on FB when it happened. I'm so happy to hear they fixed it. Oh Cole, behave yourself. We want to see mommy's creations with the Cameo!
ReplyDeleteI am a Cameo owner and can attest to its performance. Although I don't use it to do heavy duty stuff, it handle all the cardstock and vinyl I use with ease.
ReplyDeleteI must say though that sometimes it does do some strange things, but that seems to be the way with these types of machines.
I used to have an expression cutter and had the same type of thing happen.
Thank goodness paper is relatively cheap!
Cheers,
Marie
